Real Estate Agent License Requirements in Vermont

In order to sell real estate in Vermont, you first have to check off your real estate education requirements and your real estate license requirements. Accomplishing these steps will allow you to practice real estate sales in the state of Vermont.

To become an agent in Vermont, applicants must finish the following real estate license requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Complete the real estate education requirement of forty (40) hours of Vermont pre-licensing salesperson education.
  • Become associated with a brokerage firm and that firm’s principal broker

Applicants must finish the following real estate education requirements to become a licensed real estate professional in VT:

  • Applicants must complete forty (40) hours of real estate education
  • Register, schedule, and take the national portion of the real estate exam. This final exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions pertaining to national real estate.  There is a time limit of 2.5 hours to complete the full exam and you must earn a 75% or higher to pass.
  • Complete the VT Salesperson Application and state portion of the exam.  The state portion is an untimed, open book, paper-based exam with 50 questions. The exam answer sheet is uploaded with your application.
